The White House

Thanks to the help of the office of Congressman Andy Barr, we were able to visit the White House today!

So excited to go in!!

Soccer goals on the South Lawn... We wondered if Barron plays?

View of the Portico from the Visitor's Entrance.

The Visitor's Entrance Corridor was full of neat photos from all the years presidential families have lived in the White House.

Elias' favorite was this collage of presidents and their pets! Did you know that Mrs. Coolidge had a pet raccoon???

A China cabinet displaying the patterns that various presidents chose. Beautiful!

The Vermeil Room:

 The Library:

The East Room is the largest room in the White House, used for receptions, events, and press conferences. The guards said that the huge stack of paper on the stage is for an upcoming paper airplane contest that is going to be held there!

The Green Room. This one was my favorite!!

The Blue Room:

The Red Room:

The State Dining Room. The inscription on the mantel is a quotation from John Adams, "I pray heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this house and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof." Amen.

The buffets and side tables in the State Dining Room all had eagles as the legs!

The Cross Hall:

The Presidential Seal over the entrance to the Blue Room from the Cross Hall.

A beautiful Steinway concert grand piano from 1938 in the Cross Hall. Notice the eagle supports here, too.

Selfie on the north side of the White House.

What a neat experience! We're grateful for the opportunity.
