Traveling Across the World, Part 2

Read Part 1 here.

In the Tokyo hotel, we slept as well as you can with a 14-hour time change. Our bodies had no idea where we were and what we were doing! But we woke up ready to continue our journey the next day. Our flight to Manila didn't leave until 5:30pm, so we had all day to relax and try to get our heads on straight. The airport is quite far out from Tokyo, so we didn't want to venture into the city. We just explored the area around the hotel.

There was a pretty rock garden:
 And a bamboo forest!
Just around the corner was a Japanese shrine to a local dance art form, and so Justin went to check that out. That's our hotel in the back right of the picture, so it was quite close.
Although our flight didn't leave until 5:30pm, we still had to check out of our hotel at noon. We had heard there was plenty to do at the Tokyo airport, though, so we just shuttled over there and checked it out.

At the Delta check-in counter. Elias said he's looking over with surprise as if to say, "What happened to the flight attendant's head???"
McDonald's in the Tokyo airport! Somebody got his appetite back!
There was a really cool observation deck that was right outside a food court, so Justin and I got our lunches and took them out there. Elias had already eaten his McDonald's, but he enjoyed watching the planes while we ate.
Justin and I got Thai food, and it turns out that what I had ordered was so spicy, I couldn't even eat it! Justin was kind to split his lunch with me, so we were fine. :)
Watching planes take off through the binoculars.
The airport had these nice lounge chairs next to a charging station at our gate, so we totally enjoyed waiting for our plane to board.
The flight from Tokyo to Manila was only 4.5 hours, and Elias didn't eat or drink a bite, but he wasn't sick again. We are so grateful! Justin's work had arranged for people to meet us at the airport, drive us home, and meet us at our apartment to make sure we got in, and that all worked exactly according to plan. Welcome home to Manila!
