Theodore Roosevelt Island

Theodore Roosevelt Island seems to be one of the lesser-known attractions from the DC area, but it was really neat! It's only about 1.25 miles from our apartment, so we decided to hike there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed hiking the beautiful island as well!

The island itself is also quite large and great for hikes.
We're glad we found this hidden gem!

Disney on Ice

Elias' school doesn't go back until January 8, so we took the extra time to do some special fun things in Manila! We were excited to find that Disney on Ice was coming to Manila, so we got tickets, and we LOVED it! We've never seen Disney on Ice in the States before, but we sure did love it here! The show was called Everyone's Story, and so it was a broad summary of many of the most popular Disney stories. The premise was that Goofy and Donald were wanting to make a movie, but they couldn't think up a plot. So Mickey and Minnie tried to help them come up with ideas by summarizing other good stories they knew... Elias' favorite section was Finding Dory! We loved the turtles! I have no idea how they got that giant Crush to move so smoothly on the ice... The Frozen section was also hugely popular! Adventure Zone

There is yet another cool fun kids' play place in our neighborhood, called Adventure Zone! This one is members only, as part of a fitness club. However, one of Justin's coworkers has a membership there, but doesn't have any kids, and so she offered to let Elias come and play on her membership sometimes. That was so nice! Justin and Elias went there on Saturday, and they had a fabulous time! I love the photos and videos below, because they show the expressions of pure joy on Elias' face. He is such a delight! Fun Farm

About an hour south of Manila is a neat little getaway called Fun Farm. We took a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed escaping Manila and having some active fun out in nature! There was a great climbing playground where kids could expend a lot of energy! The playground had this old farm truck the kids could play on. It also had an orange Kubota tractor, just like the one Granddad used to have! There was a great petting zoo with sheep, goats, pigs, and they had carrots that we could feed to the guinea pigs and rabbits! One little hutch had a mommy rabbit with tiny newborn bunnies! More climbing for my little monkey Elias got to ride a horse. And we all rode in a cart pulled by a carabao (like a water buffalo) named Chocolate (spelled Tsokolate in Filipino, but the pronunciation is similar)! There was also boat riding. And fishing!
