NASCAR at the Monster Mile

I have the delightful blessing of working with someone who also works at NASCAR, and so once a year he is able to provide our family with free tickets and pit passes to a NASCAR race. This year, since we are in the Northeast, we asked for tickets to the race at Dover International Speedway, also called the Monster Mile. It was UNBELIEVABLE! We say that every track we go to is our favorite track yet, and we say that about Dover now, too!

We crossed over the Chesapeake Bay to get there, and that was a first for everyone in our family! What a long bridge!

The Monster Mile has an actual monster named Miles. He's huge! And holding a race car in his hand!

Elias thought it was hilarious to give Miles a fist bump. Thankfully, Miles didn't punch back.

Before the race, we enjoyed checking out the garage. I saw my favorite driver's car going through inspection!

There was a grassy hillside behind the pits, and so we sat there to ate our picnic lunch. It was so cool to watch the crews getting ready for the race!

Kids aren't allowed to stay in the infield immediately before the race, so Elias and I went to our seats. What a great view! We could see every inch of the racetrack from there!

This was the first time we had been to a race that we rented the Fan Vision, where you have a little video you can watch while listening to the radio broadcast or the crew and driver audio, which was super cool. It was definitely worth it!

Justin stayed in the infield for driver introductions and the beginning of the race. He was able to be right on the fence as drivers were passing by... He got Jimmie Johnson's autograph on his 48 hat!!!

Since Elias wasn't allowed to go in the infield during the race, Justin and I took turns sitting with him while the other checked out the infield. Dover has this amazing walkway where you can walk right over the track as the cars are running. It was UNBELIEVABLE! Soooo cooooool.

I enjoyed seeing some pit stops... They are so fast!

Elias started losing his patience toward the end of the race, so he and I walked around so Daddy could see the end. We enjoyed this selfie in front of Dale Jr's merchandise stand!

Then we grabbed a cheeseburger and sat near Miles to eat it...
Then the race was over! Unfortunately, none of the drivers we like won, but it was still a fantastic time. I'm so glad we were able to visit Dover!! We're grateful for the tickets and passes... Such a blessing!
